Project Manager – Site Relocation (Plympton → Birmingham) 3-4 month contract

We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to support a major relocation and site closure project, working closely with the Operations Manager to transfer production from our Plympton site to our Birmingham facility. You’ll lead planning, coordination, risk management and stakeholder communication to ensure delivery on time, within scope and within budget, using your experience of a similar relocation, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering setting.

Primarily based in Plympton, you will be able to travel to Birmingham once or twice a month to ensure smooth transition.

Role Overview

You’ll oversee the full relocation and site‑closure programme — managing project scope, schedules, budgets and resources, coordinating cross‑functional teams and contractors, and ensuring compliance with governance and contractual requirements. You’ll monitor progress, resolve issues, manage risks, lead project meetings and provide clear updates to stakeholders. The role also includes overseeing change management, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a smooth project handover and closure.

What You’ll Do as Project Manager

* Deliver the pre‑defined relocation plan alongside the Operations Manager.

* Oversee the closure of the Plympton site, including de‑commissioning and sale of remaining assets.

* Build and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets and resource requirements.

* Coordinate cross‑functional teams, contractors and external partners.

* Track progress, monitor milestones and resolve issues to keep the project moving.

* Identify, assess and mitigate project risks.

* Manage budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.

* Lead regular project meetings and provide clear updates to stakeholders.

* Ensure compliance with governance, policies and contractual requirements.

* Oversee change management and maintain accurate project documentation.

* Support problem‑solving and decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle.

* Deliver full project closure, including lessons learned and handover documentation.
