Help Shape the Future of Tyne Coast College

Tyne Coast College is embarking on one of the most significant periods of investment in its history, with an ambitious capital programme set to transform its estate, enhance the learner experience and deliver outstanding facilities to support the future skills needs of the region.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering an exciting new-build development at our South Tyneside Campus.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an established project professional with experience in capital projects, construction or estates management to take on a key client-side role within a major transformation programme.

Working closely with the Executive Director of Infrastructure and Transformation, you will provide project leadership, technical expertise and coordination, ensuring the successful delivery of the new-build project from planning through to completion.

About the Role

As Project Manager, you will act as the College's client-side representative, working closely with external consultants, contractors, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to ensure the new-build project is delivered safely, on time, within agreed budgets and to the required standards.

You will play a key role in:

Leading and supporting the successful delivery of the new-build project as part of the College's wider capital investment programme.
Coordinating external consultants, contractors and specialist teams, ensuring effective project management and delivery.
Supporting the management of capital project budgets, funding requirements and agreed project cashflows.
Developing and maintaining effective project reporting and governance arrangements, providing updates and assurance to senior leaders, Governors and funding bodies.
Managing relationships with external stakeholders, including Local Authorities, construction partners and other strategic organisations.
Working collaboratively with College leaders and curriculum teams to ensure the new facilities meet the College's strategic ambitions and operational requirements.
Supporting decant and transition arrangements, ensuring minimal disruption to teaching, learning and wider College activities.
Ensuring appropriate consideration is given to health and safety, planning, building regulations and relevant statutory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and highly organised Project Manager who can demonstrate the experience, leadership and communication skills needed to manage a complex capital project within a busy educational environment.

The successful candidate will have:

Significant experience of successfully delivering capital projects or programmes, ideally within construction, estates or the built environment.
Experience of managing external consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
Experience of managing decant activities and implementing capital programmes or property strategies.
Strong knowledge of project reporting, governance, budget management and risk management.
A working knowledge of planning requirements, building regulations and health and safety legislation.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
The ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively and drive projects forward to successful completion.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a professional qualification in Project Management, Construction or a related built environment discipline at Level 4 or equivalent.
