Project Manager – Electrical Systems

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager – Electrical Systems to join an established engineering business based in Totton, Southampton. This is a key role overseeing the end-to-end delivery of customised electrical metering, monitoring, panel-building and systems-integration projects within the electricity supply industry.

As Project Manager – Electrical Systems, you will manage multiple projects from contract review and design coordination through procurement, manufacture, FAT, delivery, installation, commissioning and final handover. You will work closely with engineering, production, procurement, quality, customers, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, issues and change control

  Coordinate engineering, production, procurement, quality and customer support

  Act as the main customer contact and lead project reviews

  Manage project documentation, reporting and project governance

  
  


• 
  

  Oversee FAT, delivery, installation, commissioning and handover

  
  


• 
  

  Manage and develop the Project Coordinator and Project Document Controller

  
  


• 
  

  Monitor commercial performance, forecasting and project costs

  
  


• 
  

  Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, relevant metering Codes of Practice and applicable industry standards

  
  


• 
  

  Complete project close-out and drive continuous improvement

  
  

About You

We are looking for a Project Manager – Electrical Systems with proven experience delivering electrical, electronic, control-panel or systems-integration projects through the full project lifecycle.

You will ideally have:

  HNC/HND, degree, technical apprenticeship or equivalent experience in electrical/electronic engineering or project management

  
  


• 
  

  Experience managing multiple concurrent engineering projects

  
  


• 
  

  Strong understanding of project planning, cost control, procurement, risk and change management

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications and contracts

  
  


• 
  

  Experience managing customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams

  
  


• 
  

  Strong commercial awareness and communication skills

  
  


• 
  

  Previous experience with FAT/SAT, commissioning or regulated/safety-critical projects would be advantageous

  
  


• 
  

  Experience within utilities, electricity transmission/distribution, generation or renewables would be beneficial

  
  

Knowledge of metering, DSM, PMU, PQM, DCS/SCADA, IEC 61850, MOCOPA or ENA requirements would be advantageous but is not essential.

Project Manager – Electrical Systems

Location: Totton, Southampton

Salary: £45,000–£55,000 DOE

Hours: 09:00–17:30, 37.5 hours per week

Employment: Permanent
