Overview
My client has a formalised approach to the delivery of projects to ensure the success of its development work, which is designed to promote revenue growth, future-proof its qualifications, education, and training for members, fully implement its digital first strategy and ensure the most effective use of resources. This is part of an exciting wider business transformation strategy.The postholder will play a key role at the heart of our development projects, supporting multidisciplinary teams working in a flexible environment and providing effective communication between project management and the wider organisation.

Duties and responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a consistent project management methodology tailored to organisational needs
• Establish core governance materials (schedules, risk registers, resource plans, etc.)
• Ensure appropriate governance and plan for internal/external reviews
• Support teams in delivering multiple concurrent projects to high standards
• Assist with business case creation, budgeting, resource planning, and benefit identification
• Provide regular progress, budget, and risk analysis reporting
• Lead project reviews and weekly team meetings to track progress and resolve issues
• Manage dependencies, conflicts, and escalations as needed
• Implement change control procedures and monitor control effectiveness
• Offer guidance on stakeholder engagement tools and risk management techniques
• Create and share best practice templates and PM resources
• Provide onboarding and training for staff in the Institute's project management practices
• Support project boards with admin tasks like minute-taking and reporting
• Capture and share lessons learned, promoting cross-project collaboration and reuse of resources

Person specification

• Proven experience managing/leading projects in a professional association/ membership body. Will consider candidates with experience in the not-for-profit/ charity space.
• Relevant project management qualification and strong project management experience.
• Good understanding of corporate budgeting, managing a budget within agreed limits, and financial reporting against budgets.
• Good stakeholder management skills.
• Well-developed communication skills: verbal, written and in presentations with the confidence to communicate in a multi-level environment.
• Direct experience of supporting projects through the full project life cycle, in organisations of similar size and complexity.
• Experience in relationship building, gaining consensus, and working directly with colleagues at all levels on project execution.
• Experience of identifying and managing/mitigating risk during a project life cycle.
