About the Role

We have a great opportunity for two Property Solicitors with a focus on property, planning, and consents to join our well-established SSEN Transmission Legal team.

The SSEN Transmission business owns and operates the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland. We ensure a safe and reliable supply of electricity to communities, all while championing the transition to a low carbon future - developing, building, maintaining, and operating a network for net zero. Our SSEN Transmission Legal team is an integral part of the business and we work closely with our colleagues to ensure that we successfully deliver our Network for Net Zero by providing strategic legal support for key projects.

Right now, we're at a pivotal moment in our journey. With ambitious plans to maintain and grow our transmission network in the north of Scotland, we need someone like you to guide our project teams through the complex landscape of property, planning, and consenting for our infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

- Providing proactive and pragmatic guidance on a range of property issues, ensuring legal risks are understood and managed. 

- A willingness to learn about the consenting regime for electricity infrastructure projects.

- Working with the Transmission business team to help deliver key projects.

- Working closely with teams in planning, environment, marine, land, regulation, project delivery, asset management, and operations to achieve their goals and objectives.

- Drafting and negotiating a wide range of documentation to ensure effective delivery of all property rights required in project delivery.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role we would love you to have:

- Qualification in Scotland as a solicitor with relevant PQE of around 0-3 years.

- You should have the ability to work on your own and within a team.

- Good negotiation, drafting, communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to work in-house as part of a key business support function are essential.

- An ability to build strong working relations with clients, stakeholders, external Legal Counsel, and the wider SSE Legal team.

- Periodic travel between our offices throughout Scotland is required.
