PRU Teacher

Seeking Alternative Provision Teachers!

We are looking for dedicated and resilient Teachers to join our team. We are seeking those who are experienced working within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and are available for both short-term / daily supply and long-term opportunities in Birmingham.

This is a unique opportunity to work with students who may be disengaged from mainstream education and require tailored support to succeed both academically and personally.

The role:

Deliver engaging, flexible lessons across a range of subjects (key stages will vary depending on setting)

Create a safe, supportive learning environment for students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs

Use de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour management to engage students with challenging behaviour

Work closely with a skilled team of staff, support workers and external professionals to promote student progress

Essential Requirements:

Experience working in a PRU, alternative provision or with students with challenging behaviour

Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

A flexible, compassionate and restorative approach to teaching and relationship-building

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant relevant experience in a similar setting

Desirable:

Team Teach or equivalent behaviour management training

Knowledge of trauma-informed practice

Experience working with EHCPs and targeted interventions
