Mental Health Support Worker - Maidenhead

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and autism? We have an exciting opportunity to join a caring and dedicated team at a specialist school in Maidenhead, supporting students aged 4 to 11 with complex emotional and developmental needs.

Our school provides a nurturing environment for children who face challenges related to adverse childhood experiences, mental health struggles, and nervous system dysregulation. Many of our students are on the autism spectrum and require tailored support to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Role Overview:

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support children in understanding and regulating their emotions, processing their thoughts and feelings, and developing crucial life skills. You will play a vital role in delivering targeted interventions designed to promote independence, emotional resilience, and overall wellbeing.

You will be part of a compassionate team dedicated to fostering a positive and safe environment where each child's unique needs are met with empathy and professionalism.

Who we are looking for:

  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding individual who can build trusting relationships with children with SEMH needs and autism
  • Someone with a strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • A positive, flexible attitude and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Interest or background in psychology, mental health, education, or related fields is highly desirable
  • Experience or training in supporting children with autism or SEMH is a plus but not essential

Why this role is great for you:

  • A rewarding chance to develop your skills working at the intersection of mental health, psychology, and education
  • Ideal for psychology graduates, or those from related backgrounds such as criminology, art therapy, music therapy, or sports coaching
  • Valuable experience supporting vulnerable children in a specialist educational setting
  • Competitive daily rate (£85 - £100) with excellent travel links
  • Immediate start available

If you are ready to bring your compassion and commitment to a meaningful role supporting children with SEMH and autism, please apply directly to this advert. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview or trial.
