Job Description - Purchasing Administrator

About Sportsafe



Since its conception in 1997, Sportsafe now employs over 65 staff at three offices in Essex (head office), Manchester and Scotland.


 


Sportsafe offers  installation, service and sales of sports and fitness equipment to more than 10,000 customers from the Shetland Isles to the South Coast in the UK and as far afield as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bangkok, including private schools, sports centres, care homes and more than 100 county councils and fire, police, and NHS authorities.  The company is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Safecontractor, RPII and CHAS accredited, and a member of ROSPA and AFPE.

The Role


As Purchasing Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in both the operational delivery and strategic development of our purchasing function. You’ll ensure timely, cost-effective procurement of materials, parts, and services, maintain efficient stock levels, and support business operations to guarantee customer orders are fulfilled without delay.


 


Key Responsibilities


- Maximise purchasing efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.


- Maintain accurate stock records and supplier details.


- Review and recommend changes to stock levels.


- Seek cost-saving opportunities.


- Scrutinise sales orders and requisitions.


- Raise purchase orders.


- Liaise with suppliers.


- Develop supplier relationships.


- Vet new suppliers.


- Source new products and suppliers.


- Ensure correct invoicing.


- Post month-end stock adjustments.


- Support service departments.


- Uphold company culture and customer satisfaction.


- Maintain accurate records.


- Support Accounts & Admin and wider teams.


 


Key Skills & Experience


- Competent in accounting software and MS Excel.


- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a purchasing role.


- Commercial and financial awareness.


- Strong organisational and communication skills.


- Problem-solving ability and a positive attitude.


- Able to work under pressure.


 


Additional Information


Based in Colchester with occasional UK/EU travel.
