We are supporting a well-established and growing engineering business in the recruitment of a Purchasing & Stores Controller for their Telford operation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Stores, Stock Control or Purchasing professional looking for a varied role combining procurement, inventory management, logistics and stores operations. Working closely with engineering and workshop teams, you will be responsible for ensuring materials, components and consumables are available when required whilst maintaining excellent stock accuracy and supplier relationships.

The role will suit an organised and proactive individual who enjoys a hands-on position, splitting their time between computer-based purchasing duties and operational activities within the stores and workshop environment.

The Purchasing & Stores Controller will be responsible for:

* Managing purchasing activities, supplier communications and delivery schedules

* Receiving, booking-in, storing and issuing stock and materials

* Maintaining accurate inventory records and stock control processes

* Monitoring stock levels and ordering consumables as required

* Handling returns, supplier discrepancies and non-conforming goods

* Coordinating UK and international shipments and logistics activities

* Conducting stock checks and investigating variances

* Producing stock and purchasing reports

* Operating FLT equipment and supporting material handling activities

* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and compliance procedures

* Undertaking occasional deliveries and collections using the company vehicle

Skills and Experience

* Experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Stores, Warehouse, Stock Control or Materials Control

* Confident managing purchase orders, suppliers and inventory records

* Good IT skills, including Excel, Word and email

* Strong attention to detail with a well-organised approach

* Able to work independently and as part of a team

* FLT experience advantageous

* Full clean UK driving licence essential
