Job Description - Purchasing Manager

Our client is a well-established high-security steel door manufacturer serving a multitude of sectors, priding themselves on operational excellence. Due to their continued expansion and success, they are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead and optimise their procurement operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving company that has experienced significant growth over the past year.

As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing strategies, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. You will play a crucial role in managing supplier negotiations, implementing best practices, and driving efficiencies across the supply chain.

Purchasing Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to enhance efficiency and cost savings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply chains.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers.
  • Manage and mentor a team of three procurement operatives, providing guidance and performance oversight.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to forecast demand and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Source new suppliers and assess their capabilities to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Analyse purchasing data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience managing people in a procurement or purchasing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Purchasing Manager or similar role.
  • Level 3 CIPS qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to analyse data, assess risks, and make strategic purchasing decisions.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or construction industries is highly desirable.
