Our client, a global manufacturer and distributor based here in Peterborough, is looking for an experienced Purchasing Supervisor to support and develop their purchasing function. This is a brand-new role within the business and comes at a very exciting time for the company overall.
The successful individual will ensure the effective sourcing of materials and services while maintaining strong supplier and internal stakeholder relationships.
The Role:
Reporting to the Procurement Operations Manager, you will oversee purchasing activities, support supplier management, and help drive procurement performance across the business. Working closely with internal teams and external suppliers, you will ensure purchasing decisions support operational demand, commercial objectives and supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and develop supplier relationships to ensure quality, service and value.
* Support strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.
* Monitor supplier performance, pricing and purchasing spend.
* Work closely with Operations, Logistics and Finance teams to support business requirements.
* Identify and manage supply chain risks.
* Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the purchasing team.
* Drive continuous improvement across purchasing processes and controls.
* Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
The Individual:
* Proven experience within purchasing, procurement or supply chain operations.
* Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
* Good commercial awareness and analytical ability.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Highly organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.
* Previous supervisory experience would be advantageous.
