Job Description - Purchasing Team Leader

Thrive in a collaborative environment and make a difference in procurement. Join a high-performing purchasing team as a results-oriented Purchasing Team Leader.

About the Role:

You'll be at the forefront of our procurement operations, leading and developing a team of purchasing assistants while ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of administrative services across the entire Group Purchasing function. You'll champion efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & Develop: Manage the purchasing assistant team, directing workflow, supporting professional development (PDRs, training, etc.), and ensuring all team members meet individual and team KPI targets.
  • Provide Expert Support: Deliver accurate and timely administrative services for the team and create and manage support manuals for ongoing team development.
  • Drive Efficiency: Evaluate and propose new systems and processes to improve efficiency and quality of service while managing costs.
  • Strategic Thinking: Periodically share team updates, opportunities, challenges, and solutions with senior management.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve data quality and service levels.
  • Hands-On Support: Provide direct support to the Purchasing Assistant team during peak workload periods or absences.

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven experience in a Team Leader or Management position within a Purchasing, Sales, Contact Centre, or similar function.
  • An understanding of Group Purchasing processes and supporting administrative tasks is advantageous
  • Highly numerate and analytical, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in SAP, Business Warehouse, and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel: Vlookups, Pivot Tables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience presenting data and updates.

  • Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.
