Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electerical QA Engineer to join the project team delivering a major Healthcare development in Surrey
The Electrical QA Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical installation works are delivered to the highest standards of quality, compliance, safety, reliability, and traceability, in accordance with approved design information, project specifications, Inspection & Test Plans, healthcare requirements, and applicable UK standards.
Due to the critical nature of the healthcare environment, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical systems, quality assurance, inspection and testing, critical power infrastructure, resilience, and healthcare construction requirements.
This is a predominantly site-based contractual position, working closely with the Main Contractor, MEP Contractor, specialist subcontractors, consultants, commissioning teams, and client representatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and monitor the quality of electrical installation works across the project.
* Ensure installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, manufacturers' requirements, project standards, and relevant UK legislation.
* Develop, implement, and maintain electrical Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
* Undertake regular inspections of electrical installation works and verify compliance with approved construction documentation.
* Witness and review electrical testing and commissioning activities.
* Review and sign off Inspection & Test Records (ITRs) and associated quality documentation.
* Monitor subcontractor workmanship and quality performance.
* Maintain full traceability of materials, inspections, testing, and commissioning documentation.
* Review electrical drawings, specifications, method statements, risk assessments, test procedures, and technical submissions.
* Ensure works are inspected and accepted prior to being concealed or progressing to the next construction stage.
* Work closely with the commissioning team to ensure systems are correctly tested and documented.
* Support the preparation of project handover and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) documentation.
* Participate in quality audits, inspections, walk-downs, snagging, and final acceptance activities.
* Identify potential quality issues before they impact programme or commissioning.
* Provide technical support and guidance to electrical installation teams and subcontractors.
Given the critical nature of healthcare facilities, particular attention will be required for:
* Normal and emergency power systems.
* Standby generators and associated distribution.
* UPS systems and battery systems.
* Essential and non-essential LV distribution.
* Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
* Medical IT / isolated power systems where applicable.
* Emergency lighting.
* Fire alarm and life-safety systems.
* Lightning protection.
* Interfaces between electrical, mechanical, controls, BMS, fire and specialist systems.
* Electrical resilience, redundancy, segregation, and changeover arrangements.
