This role is responsible for leading and developing a quality assurance team within a very fast paced chilled food manufacturing environment, ensuring products are safe, compliant, and meet customer and regulatory requirements through effective quality systems, auditing, and performance management.

Our client is a major player within in the UK's chilled ready meal manufacturers, producing retailer own-label ready meals and prepared foods, for some of the biggest food retailers in the Country.
Description
Lead, manage, and develop the Quality Assurance team, including performance management and training. Ensure products are manufactured safely and meet customer, quality, and food safety standards. Support and prepare for customer and third-party audits, and deputise for the Technical Manager when required. Monitor compliance with technical policies, procedures, HACCP requirements, and critical control points (CCPs). Maintain quality systems and ensure accurate documentation to support food safety and due diligence requirements. Manage testing schedules for raw materials, finished products, environmental monitoring, taste panels, and laboratory samples. Oversee equipment calibration schedules and ensure corrective actions are implemented where necessary. Conduct and support internal audits, validation, and verification activities. Analyse quality and laboratory data, identify trends, investigate non-conformances, and drive corrective actions. Manage process deviations, incidents, concessions, and support customer complaint investigations. Attend customer panels and liaise with customers on quality-related matters. Review contractor and service provider performance (e.g., pest control) and ensure actions are completed. Work with suppliers to manage raw material non-conformances and verify corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technical projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Report quality performance and key metrics to the business and escalate issues where appropriate.
Profile
The successful applicant will have:
· HACCP Level 3 - Essential
· HACCP Level 4 and Food Safety Level 4 desirable.
· Internal Auditing Qualification (Lead Auditor or similar)
· Sound knowledge of BRC & interpreting customer policies
Job Offer
