Quantity Surveyor – NZT Project

Unite People are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established Tier 2 subcontractor delivering a package of works on the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project.

The position can be offered on either a permanent or freelance basis, depending on the individual, and is a great opportunity to get involved in a major infrastructure project in the North East.

The Role

You'll be working closely with the project and commercial teams, taking responsibility for the commercial management of the subcontractor's package on the NZT scheme.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

* Commercial management of civil engineering packages

* Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts

* Preparing and submitting applications for payment

* Cost/value reconciliation and regular commercial reporting

* Producing accurate cost forecasts and monitoring project performance

* Identifying and managing variations, change and additional works

* Reviewing contracts and ensuring commercial risks are properly managed

* Working closely with the Project Manager and site delivery team

* Managing client commercial relationships

* Supporting procurement and subcontractor negotiations

* Maintaining accurate records to support variations and contractual entitlement

* Assisting with final accounts and project close-out

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects.

Ideally, you'll have:

* Previous experience working for a civil engineering contractor or subcontractor

* Experience commercially managing packages on major infrastructure projects

* Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and change management

* Experience with applications, variations, forecasting and CVRs

* Good understanding of subcontractor management and procurement

* Strong commercial awareness with the confidence to work closely with both the client and site delivery teams

* Relevant Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management qualification preferred

Experience across heavy civils, earthworks, concrete, utilities or major infrastructure would be particularly relevant.
