Job Description - Quality Assessor - Raw Materials
Kepak is a global food company serving international retailers and food service household names with prime cuts of meat, on-trend food concepts and ready-for-market convenience foods.
Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.
This position is 3 days on 3 days off - permanent, full time.
To conduct real-time inspections of incoming raw materials and the impact through to finished product, ensuring compliance with specifications and triggering NCRs where necessary.
Collating evidence to share clear & concise information with suppliers to drive understanding, NC reduction and spec adherence.
Communicate, Review & hold suppliers accountable for effective NC close outs, driving effective continuous improvement.
Deliver effective communication and training to all team members, to ensure effective internal reporting, compliance reporting of raw material & facilitation of cost recovery where relevant.
Ensure adherence to company health, safety and wellbeing policies, contributing to a safe and supportive working environment.
Perform just in time inspections prior to processing
Verify product codes, supplier codes, dates and physical attribute
Record inspection data digitally or on inspection sheets
Role Deliverables
Effectively inspect & assess raw material standards & compliance to spec in a proactive and effective manner
Active presence online to assess standards throughout the shift.
Highlight & effectively document deviation to spec
Delivery detailed NCR for suppliers to resolve issues
Report to enable effective cost recovery
Chase & close NCR raised
Role Qualifications and Skills
· Experience in food quality inspection, preferably in meat processing.
· Attention to detail and ability to follow defined protocols.
· Comfortable using digital tools and inspection systems.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Experience in assisting with audits and liaising with external stakeholders including customers, auditors and regulatory authorities.
· Experience in quality management systems within food manufacturing
