Job Description - Quality Assurance Engineer

ROLE: Quality Engineer
LOCATION: York
SALARY £40,000 - £50,000 per annum doe

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our established aerospace and defence organisation in York. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory frameworks, supporting the delivery of safe and reliable products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and improve quality management systems and processes in line with AS9100, ISO9001, and other applicable standards.
Conduct internal and supplier audits to verify compliance and drive continuous improvement.
Support product inspections, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Liaise with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain) to resolve quality issues and promote best practices.
Analyse quality metrics and performance data, providing reports and recommendations to senior management.
Review customer and regulatory requirements, ensuring projects meet all specifications.
Support training initiatives and promote a strong culture of quality throughout the business.

Skills & Experience:

Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
Experience in a quality engineering or assurance role within aerospace, defence, or a similarly regulated industry.
Strong knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 standards and auditing techniques.
Proficient in root cause analysis tools (e.g. 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys) and continuous improvement methodologies.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a methodical and analytical approach.
