Job Description - Quality Engineer

ROLE: Quality Engineer
LOCATION: Derby
SALARY: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

We are seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer to join a leading advanced manufacturing business in Derby. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining product quality standards, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain quality management systems in line with AS9100, ISO9001, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits, driving compliance and best practice throughout the supply chain.
  • Support production teams with quality control activities, including in-process and final product inspections.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation including control plans, FAI (First Article Inspection) reports, and inspection records.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and customers to resolve quality issues and ensure product conformity.
  • Analyse quality performance metrics and recommend improvements to processes, tools, and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on quality standards and requirements.
Skills & Experience:
  • HND/Degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience in a quality engineering role within aerospace, automotive, composites, or a similarly regulated sector.
  • Strong understanding of AS9100/ISO9001 quality standards and auditing techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with composite materials or advanced manufacturing processes (desirable).
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and continuous improvement tools such as 8D, FMEA, and Lean methodologies.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the business.
