Job Description - Quality Engineer

We’re looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer who enjoys being close to the product, the process and the people making it happen.

If you’re a Quality Engineer who likes solving problems on the shop floor rather than spending all day behind a desk, this could be a great fit. You’ll join a precision manufacturing environment where the work you do has a direct impact on product performance, customer satisfaction and patient safety.

The Role

As a Quality Engineer, you’ll work closely with Production, Engineering, Inspection and Supply Chain to keep manufacturing moving while making sure the right standards are maintained.

You’ll:

* Investigate production issues using structured root cause techniques.

* Lead root cause investigations into internal, supplier and customer non-conformances.

* Turn root cause findings into effective corrective and preventive actions that stop issues from coming back.

* Support inspection activities and review dimensional inspection results, including CMM reports.

* Review engineering drawings, specifications and inspection requirements.

* Complete product and batch release activities, ensuring documentation and traceability are accurate.

* Support incoming inspection and review supplier certification and documentation.

* Work directly with suppliers to resolve quality concerns and drive corrective actions.

* Support audits, maintain quality records and help improve procedures and processes.

* Analyse quality data, trends and KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement.

What we’re looking for

To be successful as a Quality Engineer, you’ll need practical experience in a regulated manufacturing environment and the confidence to make informed decisions when issues arise.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

* Previous experience as a Quality Engineer or in a similar manufacturing quality role.

* Practical knowledge of ISO 13485 and Quality Management Systems.

* Strong experience with CAPA, non-conformance management and root cause analysis.

* Confidence using root cause problem-solving methods such as 5 Whys and Fishbone.

* The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

* Experience with standard inspection equipment such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges and bore gauges.

* Confidence reviewing CMM inspection reports.

* Experience with product release, traceability, concessions and deviations.

* Experience supporting internal, customer, supplier or third-party audits.

* Strong data analysis, reporting and Microsoft Excel skills.

Medical device manufacturing experience would be ideal, although we’d also be keen to speak with candidates from , precision engineering, aerospace, automotive or rail.

The person who will do well here

This Quality Engineer role will suit someone who is proactive, practical and comfortable getting involved. You’ll be confident challenging processes constructively, working across different teams and taking ownership when something needs fixing.

You’ll enjoy getting to the root cause of problems, clearly communicating the root cause to others and making sure improvements are sustainable rather than temporary
