Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality of a diverse range of goods and services, including incoming raw materials and finished products ready for despatch.
They verify that all manufactured items meet the organisation’s established quality standards before reaching customers.
This role involves analysing measurements, conducting tests, and monitoring various production stages. Inspectors identify any products that do not meet quality criteria and recommend improvements to reduce defects and enhance the production process.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Perform thorough quality assessments of incoming raw materials and finished products, using both metrological and visual inspection techniques.
• Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM); experience with Aberlink software is preferred, with familiarity in PC-DMIS considered advantageous.
• Review technical plans, specifications, and drawings to fully understand product requirements.
• Reject incoming materials that fail to meet quality standards and promptly report findings.
• Address quality-related issues efficiently, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
• Assist the Quality Manager in designing and implementing robust quality systems and protocols organisation-wide.
• Prepare detailed inspection documentation, including comprehensive reports and performance records.
• Recommend process improvements to maintain and elevate quality control standards.
• Advise the production team on quality matters to improve overall product excellence.
• Support the Head of Quality in analysing KPI data and monitoring customer satisfaction.
• Oversee production stages to ensure consistent quality throughout.

Required Skills and Attributes:
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for accurate reporting and developing protocols across departments.
• Organisational Skills: Strong ability to manage product reviews and inspections efficiently.
• Physical Fitness: Able to stand for extended periods and perform manual handling tasks safely and effectively.
• Technical Proficiency: Sound knowledge of inspection equipment and software, commitment to health and safety standards, and the ability to interpret technical documents, manuals, and engineering drawings. Training and guidance will be provided.
• Training Capability: Confident in instructing colleagues on specific processes and procedures to prevent defects and improve workflow.
• Attention to Detail: Diligent in identifying product deviations and alert to any changes in processes or functions.
• Numeracy Skills: Strong mathematical ability for precise measurement and specification calculations.
• Mechanical Understanding: Proficient in reading engineering drawings, understanding general dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), as well as welding standards and symbols.

Rate: £16.00 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Temporary to permanent
