Job description
We are recruiting for a Quantitative Valuations Executive to join BDO, an accountancy and business advisory firm. This permanent opportunity is offering an excellent salary, plus a 6% cash allowance which will be reviewed regularly in line with performance. Alongside this, there is also a generous standard benefits package.
About the role:
As an Executive you will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of a portfolio of projects and for the timely delivery of services. You will work closely and support Managers, Directors and Partners with engagements.

The position benefits from rigorous on-the-job training from senior team members with significant experience in investment banking and consulting. Opportunities for undertaking further financial (e.g. CFA, FRM) or quantitative (e.g. CQF) qualifications will also be available.

You'll be involved in a range of valuation and advisory engagements relating to financial products (derivatives and cash based) across all asset classes that will include both contentious and non-contentious matters. Such engagements will also include risk related matters such as the modelling of default risk. You will also be involved in other forms of quantitative/statistical advisory projects.

Key responsibilities include;
  • Produce clear and concise papers setting out modelling approaches and valuation techniques applied.
  • Ensure that the firms risk management and client take-on procedures have appropriately been complied with.
  • Assist with effective project management of valuation engagements from inception to completion.
  • Deliver clear, succinct and robust valuation models and reports that are fit for purpose and accessible to non-technical readers.
  • Manage client expectations and relationships skilfully through timely and appropriate communication.
  • Participate in client calls and discussions.
  • Provide effective intellectual input and challenge to senior members of staff in the completion of projects with conceptual complications.
  • Carry out relevant technical research relevant to a specific area of valuations – disseminate key findings to the valuation team. 
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for advice to clients or solicitors or for use in legal or regulatory proceedings.
  • Strive to ensure excellent client service and delivery on assignments and at stream level.
  • Begin building a network of professional and business contacts.

About you:
  • A master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or Computer Science from a reputable university.
  • Strong professional interest in the fields of finance and financial instrument valuation, hedging and structuring.
  • Intellectual curiosity and an analytical mind-set.
  • An interest in applying tools from finance, mathematics and data science to provide pragmatic and robust solutions to real-world problems.
  • Some knowledge of the valuation of financial products gained either from university courses, experience in a bank/consultancy or self-study initiatives.
  • Good knowledge of mathematics as applied to finance and financial product valuation.
  • Some programming skills in a high-level language (e.g. Python, R, MATLAB, Excel VBA) and/or experience with econometric software packages (e.g. STATA, SAS).
  • Strong business writing, analytical and modelling skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills. 
  • Excellent academic background and a track record of academic achievement
