Job Description - Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor – Retrofit Delivery Team
  • Annual Salary: £53,000 to £62,000
  • Location: Hampshire / Berkshire
  • Job Type: Full-time

Join our Retrofit Delivery team as a Quantity Surveyor, where you will be instrumental in managing project costs, mitigating financial risks, and ensuring value for money while maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and quality standards. This role is crucial for overseeing financial performance and ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed terms, maximising commercial benefits.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Oversee all commercial aspects of contracts, including procurement, contract negotiation, and review of contracts and purchase orders.
  • Manage project finances, including cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate project estimates, assess commercial risks, and issue contractual notices.
  • Work with external consultants and internal Contracts Managers to review technical design proposals.
  • Conduct site measures, provide monthly valuations of completed works, and issue relevant contract notices.
  • Develop and implement financial management tools, such as CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations), KPIs, and reporting formats to minimize financial risks.
  • Manage data related to PAS2035 and the SHDF Grant Funding Agreement, ensuring compliance.
  • Regularly review costs and value in conjunction with the site team, ensuring timely and accurate forecasts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary contracts in a complex housing association environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations, PAS2030/2035/63100, NICIEC, MCS, British Standards, and other relevant industry codes.
  • Proven ability to analyse business information and develop metrics that deliver sustained progress.
  • Experience in managing programme development and performance within a social housing context.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation relating to retrofit projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • A thorough understanding of the built environment, M&E processes, and public procurement tendering regulations.
  • Full UK driving license is required.
