This is proper refurbishment contracting.
Occupied buildings. Repeat clients. Prime London postcodes. Tight sites. High expectations.
 
There are minimal layers in the commercial structure. It’s hands-on surveying in a business where everyone pulls their weight - including the MD.
 
The Role
• Take over a live portfolio of projects following a planned retirement
• External, internal and maintenance works
• Projects typically up to £4m in value
• Office based in Chingford
• Work alongside two QSs and an Estimator (who also supports commercially)
• Exposure across full project lifecycle - ­from tender handover to final account
 
What they’re looking for
• QS experience within a main contractor environment
• Comfortable managing multiple smaller projects simultaneously
• Strong on subcontractor accounts, variations and final accounts
• Able to operate in a small-team setting where communication matters
• Someone steady, practical and commercially reliable
 
This suits someone who enjoys autonomy - but doesn’t need layers of hierarchy.
 
The Business
A small, established contractor delivering refurbishment and maintenance works across prime London locations, particularly Chelsea.
 
Their work is relationship-driven with much of it being repeat business . This leads to quality and reliability matter more than flashy turnover.
