Quantity Surveyor
£22,500 - £37,000, negotiable DOE + benefits
MacArthur Recruitment is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a successful Architectural and Surveying client, near Cockermouth, Cumbria. Their work; design, build and survey projects, typically covers the Cumbria area, working in the private, commercial and government sectors, amongst others.
Role flexibilty

Overview of the role of Quantity Surveyor :
The primary purpose of this role will be to support the current sole in-house quantity surveyor in providing contractual and cost advice to architects, surveyors and technicians both within the practice and, where required, to clients. Youâll have an appetite for learning, be happy working with the team or independently and be comfortable helping clients directly.
Key aspects of the role of Quantity Surveyor :
- Cost planning / Financial Control and reporting during construction
- Contractual and procurement advice
- Budget estimating / order of cost estimates
- Bills of Quantities and / or Schedules of Works production
- Value Engineering processes
- Contract claims negotiation
- Final Account negotiation and agreement
- Insurance rebuild calculations
Other aspects to learn or contribute to straight away :
- Produce traditional bills of quantities
- Able to use BCIS and NBS on-line systems
- CDM 2015 Regulations
- Experience in the role of Contract Administrator, Client Agent or Representative.
Your qualifications and experience for the role of Quantity Surveyor :
- Costings
- BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent / similar
- Post-graduate experience â preferably, but not essentially, as a member of a private quantity surveying consultancy practice
- Chartered member of the RICS or already working to this; ARB membership also a bonus
- CDM and/or occupational health and safety qualification, training and experience
- A clean drivers licence

- Salary: £22,500 - £37,000 plus, DOE
