Quantity Surveyor - Cheltenham

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a busy Capital Works division delivering long-term planned maintenance and refurbishment programmes across Gloucestershire.

Working on established local authority contracts, the successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of kitchen and bathroom replacement programmes, decarbonisation projects, external works and wider refurbishment schemes within occupied residential properties.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, working closely with both operational and commercial teams, giving genuine influence over project delivery from pre-contract through to final account.

The successful candidate can be based in either Bristol, or Cheltenahm, whichever is more commutable.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

Preparing estimates, tenders and cost plans for planned works and refurbishment projects.
Measuring works on site and producing accurate valuations.
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project lifecycles.
Producing budget cost value reconciliations and supporting contract planning.
Working closely with Contracts Managers to ensure commercial and operational objectives are achieved.
Managing subcontractor accounts, variations and change control processes.
Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and site teams.
Monitoring project costs, labour performance and productivity.
Producing monthly valuations, forecasts and commercial reports.
Supporting cash flow management and commercial performance across multiple contracts.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Project Surveyor or Commercial Surveyor.
Experience managing projects or programmes valued up to £3 million.
A strong understanding of cost control, valuations, forecasting and contract administration.
Experience within refurbishment, planned maintenance, social housing, capital works or construction environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive approach to identifying cost-saving opportunities and maximising value.
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
The ability to build effective relationships with both clients and operational teams.Experience working within occupied properties, social housing or refurbishment environments would be highly advantageous.
