Quantity Surveyor - Heritage Sector

Owlsworth is a group of specialist construction companies operating at the top end of our respective sectors, the largest of which is a building conservation contractor working on prestigious and unique projects for clients that include Historic Royal Palaces, National Trust, English Heritage, Oxford Colleges, plus private clients often on large country estates and the odd windmill.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Quantity Surveyor to support our busy Commercial Team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee end-to-end procurement
• Take part in commercial negotiations and financial sections of tender processes
• Prepare and maintain CVRs and cash flow forecasts
• Oversee material purchasing and negotiate major package rates
• Prepare and agree monthly valuations with clients and subcontractors
• Ensure prompt agreement of variations and manage commercial risk
• Monitor subcontractor compliance, including insurance and warranties

Requirements:

• HNC in Construction or relevant Degree level qualification
• Detailed knowledge private residential building contracting
• Awareness of property taxation matters and contractual law
• Have a good understanding of traditional building methods and products associated with the refurbishment of listed buildings and up-market period houses
• Have a good working knowledge MS Office
• To be able to write clear and precise communications which might include detailed and complex figures, calculations and specific building information
• Strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn construction management IT packages
