R&D Chemist

Job Purpose

To be dedicated to the development of new products and technology platforms, using personal technical capabilities and innovative ideas and to plan and carry out agreed experimental work, document, analyse and communicate subsequent results and suggest next steps for investigation to ensure efficient progression of technical studies and development projects.

Person Specification

Experience and a strong technical knowledge of chemical formulation and manufacturing processes is desirable and highly valued, however, candidates able to demonstrate a clear understanding of Chemistry and a passion for innovation and product development should also apply for this exciting position. Graduates are encouraged to apply.

• Demonstrate a proficient level of technical skills, knowledge and techniques and to generate IP where appropriate.
• Ensure effective recording and communication of results.
• Ensure that all assigned work is delivered in a timely manner and all associated requirements, objectives and targets are fully met.
• Contribute to discussions that further both technology and process development.
• Identifies new processes and materials
• Ensures high laboratory standards with respect to health, safety, environment and quality in all activities

Skills and Experience:

• Degree in Chemistry or similar science
• Experience within surface coatings industry or similar field desirable
• Awareness of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems
• Self-motivated, has great attention to detail, is adaptable and enthusiastic
• Analytical thinker
• Ability to work collaboratively and constructively in a dynamic and changing environment
• Thoroughness in completing work and achieving accuracy
• Team player with good interpersonal skills and the capability to interact with people at all levels
