R&D Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced R&D Project Manager to lead major global New Product Development (NPD) projects, strengthen project management capability across the R&D function, and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes and wider business objectives.

This is a key role within the R&D function, requiring strong project leadership, stakeholder management and the ability to coordinate complex, multidisciplinary programmes from concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

As an R&D Project Manager, you will:

* Manage major projects across global business groups within the NPD Phase Gate process, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within agreed scope.

* Develop and maintain robust project plans covering all relevant cross-functional activities.

* Lead project teams to deliver agreed project tasks and work closely with management to identify and remove barriers to successful delivery.

* Take responsibility for stakeholder engagement and provide clear, regular communication on NPD project progress.

* Provide best-practice project management guidance across the R&D team.

* Support senior R&D leadership in embedding and continuously improving the NPD Phase Gate process.

* Provide direction and oversight to the R&D Project Coordinator across departmental services, including intellectual property administration, raw material procurement, waste management, external testing and associated operational activities.

* Oversee the management of R&D equipment and hardware assets, including servicing and repairs, ensuring equipment remains operational and compliant with health and safety requirements.

About You

We are looking for an R&D Project Manager with a strong background in project or programme management within a technical environment.

You will ideally have:

* A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering, scientific, technical or business discipline.

* Experience of professional development in project management, leadership or business management is desirable.

* Professional project management qualifications are desirable.

* Experience working within a multidisciplinary R&D, engineering or product development environment.

* Proven experience leading complex R&D, engineering or product development programmes.

* A strong understanding of project and programme management principles.

* A strong understanding of product development and governance processes.

* The ability to assess complex situations, identify risks and opportunities, and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.

* Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders.

* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to engage, influence and motivate cross-functional teams.
