Job Description - R&D Robotics Systems Engineer

About the Role
Machnet Medical Robotics, at the forefront of medical robotics technology, is seeking a talented R&D Robotics Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in central London. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in designing, fabricating, and testing advanced medical robotics, contributing significantly to our mission of transforming healthcare through innovation. Our focus is on integrating actuated devices with electromechanical and pneumatic systems, necessitating high-precision, high-repeatability mechanical motion and fail-safe design.

Key Responsibilities:
· Design and develop mechanical and electronic components of robotic systems, focusing on creating compact and portable designs.
· Apply skills in CAD, 3D printing, and other rapid prototyping methods to develop, iterate, and optimise robotic components and systems.
· Engage in creating intuitive graphical user interfaces, ensuring ease of use and accessibility while leveraging suitable software tools and frameworks.
· Focus on programming for robotics, especially in areas of sensor integration, actuation mechanisms, and user interface development.
· Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure the successful integration and implementation of robotic systems.
· Perform thorough testing to ensure the systems meet design specifications and user requirements.

Who We Are Looking For:
· A Master’s or Ph.D. graduate in Mechanical or Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering
· Proven expertise in mechanical and electrical design, fabrication, and assembly of robotic systems.
· Strong programming skills, particularly in Python, C++, ROS, and machine learning frameworks.
· Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks.
· Experience with rapid prototyping technologies, including 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining.
· Deep understanding of robot kinematics and dynamics. This includes the ability to model and simulate robotic systems for design and testing purposes.
· Practical experience with a variety of sensors used in robotics (such as encoders and force-torque sensors) and the ability to process and interpret their signals effectively.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Experiences We Value:
· Hands-on experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and PCB design and soldering.
· Knowledge of control systems, including PID, MPC, and Kalman Filter.
· Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS and Gazebo.
· Familiarity with machine perception, computer vision, and deep learning applications in robotics.
· Practical experience in pneumatic or hydraulic control systems, particularly in their application within robotic systems.

What We Offer:
· Join an international and interdisciplinary team based in central London and the Netherlands, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.
· Contribute to a rapidly growing medical device startup with ambitious global impact goals, making a significant difference in healthcare.
· A central London office with a well-equipped prototyping space
· Access continuous learning and professional development through training programs, workshops, and conferences.
· Thrive in an inclusive and diverse workplace that values and supports every team member.
· An attractive salary package, competitive with industry standards.
· Prior involvement in the medical device industry, particularly in product development for medical robotics or similar equipment.

If you are passionate about advancing healthcare through innovative technology and enjoy the challenge of working on high-precision, reliable medical robotics, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
