Recycling and Warehouse Operative – 2 Month Contract








Location: Enfield Civic Centre, Enfield



Rate: £19.03 per hour (Umbrella)



Contract: 2 Month Contract



Hours: Full Time



Pay: Bi-weekly







Summary








We are seeking a dedicated Recycling and Warehouse Operative to join our team for a 2-month contract, supporting the Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES). This role is vital in ensuring that vulnerable residents can live independently and safely by managing the recycling, refurbishment, decontamination, storage, and distribution of community healthcare equipment. You will be instrumental in processing returned items such as mobility aids, hoists, beds, and wheelchairs, ensuring they are cleaned, inspected, refurbished, and prepared for safe reuse.







Responsibilities








Equipment Recycling & Refurbishment









  • Receive and process returned community healthcare equipment.

  • Clean, decontaminate, inspect, and refurbish equipment for reuse.

  • Assess returned items for suitability and safety.

  • Identify equipment requiring repair, recycling, or disposal.

  • Ensure all equipment is processed in line with infection control procedures and quality standards.




Warehouse Operations









  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised warehouse environment.

  • Store equipment safely and accurately within designated locations.

  • Assist with stock control and inventory management.

  • Support the movement, loading, and unloading of equipment.

  • Ensure equipment is readily available for delivery and collection teams.




Health & Safety Compliance









  • Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and Council procedures.

  • Follow infection prevention and control protocols at all times.

  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly.

  • Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and equipment faults promptly.

  • Maintain safe handling and storage practices.




Waste & Recycling Management









  • Segregate recyclable materials and waste streams correctly.

  • Manage clinical and non-clinical waste in accordance with procedures.

  • Support environmental and sustainability objectives through responsible recycling practices.

  • Ensure waste disposal complies with relevant regulations.




Quality Assurance









  • Carry out equipment inspections and quality checks.

  • Maintain accurate processing records.

  • Ensure refurbished equipment meets operational and safety standards before reuse.

  • Follow established procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.




Team Working









  • Work collaboratively with warehouse colleagues, drivers, and service teams.

  • Support operational priorities and service delivery targets.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.

  • Contribute to a positive and productive working environment.




Essential



Requirements



Requirements:








  • Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, stores, recycling, assembly, production, or operational roles.

  • Ability to undertake manual handling duties safely.

  • Understanding of Health & Safety requirements in a warehouse or operational environment.

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Reliable and professional approach to work.




Desirable









  • Experience working within healthcare equipment services.

  • Experience refurbishing, cleaning, or repairing equipment.

  • Previous Local Authority, NHS, Social Care, or Community Equipment Service experience.

  • Knowledge of infection control procedures.

  • Forklift or warehouse equipment experience.

  • Experience managing clinical or recycling waste streams.

  • Fast-paced service supporting vulnerable residents across the community.
