Downpatrick, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council £14.07/hour (PAYE) 36 hours per week | Temporary - 26 weeks

About the Role

We're recruiting on behalf of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for a Household Recycling Centre (HRC) Operative to join their Neighbourhood Services team. You'll be based at the Household Recycling Centre (HRC) - the local recycling and tip site - on Flying Horse Rd, Downpatrick, helping members of the public sort and dispose of their waste safely and responsibly.

You'll play a key role in delivering a safe, courteous, and efficient recycling service to the public.

What You'll Be Doing

Operating the Civic Amenity and Recycling Centre, promoting recycling to all site users
Handling cash and issuing receipts in line with council procedures
Directing traffic and assisting members of the public with tipping
Maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the site and surrounding area
Completing site records, waste transfer notes, and other required paperwork
Operating compactors and supporting contractors on site
Ensuring health & safety and pest control standards are met

What We're Looking For

Eligibility to work in the UK
A valid driving licence 9 Category B (car) licence required
Strong customer service skills - you'll be the council's face to the public
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to follow site procedures
