Job Description - Refugee Support Worker

Job Role: Refugee Support Worker Salary: £24,500 Hours: Full time 37.5 hours a week Contract type: Permanent Location: Kingswood Additional information: On-call (1 in 4 weeks), £100/week when on-call The Role: This role is working within our Refugee Resettlement team. You will be supporting and empowering individuals and families that are resettling in South Gloucestershire. The support you provide will need to be client-centered and tailored to each individual's needs, including access to healthcare, education, housing, benefits and meaningful occupation. Within the role you will give families the knowledge and tools to be fully independent in their lives in the UK. Responsibilities include: You will be running drop-in sessions across multiple hubs in South Gloucestershire.
You will be supporting a caseload of refugee families, resettled via various UK government schemes including refugees from Ukraine, Syria and Afghanistan.
Take a lead professional role in coordinating multi-agency support around the family, including organising and leading meetings between the family and the professionals supporting them
Engage with supervision, reflective practice and learning opportunities with the Team and Julian House as an organisation
Support families to apply for benefits, understand their finances, and manage their income/expenditure Qualifications / Requirements: A valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle - business insurance will be required for roles involving travel to work.
Understanding of the complex needs of Refugees who have experienced trauma.
Working with interpreters and/or with a language barrier
Empathy and understanding of the needs of Refugees who have experienced trauma and who have complex needs.
The Support Worker will be working with Refugee's from the Middle East/Central Asia mainly so someone that speaks Arabic or/and Dari -Pashto is desirable.
