Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting Refuse Collectors and Recycling Operatives to join a busy waste and recycling team covering the Ivybridge area.

This is a physically demanding, hands-on role involving the collection and disposal of household and commercial waste and recycling. Working outdoors in all weather conditions, you'll play an important part in keeping local communities clean while supporting an essential public service.

What We Offer

£12.85 per hour.
Monday to Friday working.
Hours: 7am-5:30pm.
Temporary ongoing assignment.
Immediate start available from 4th August.

Key Duties

Collect household and commercial waste and recycling.
Sort recyclable materials correctly.
Move wheelie bins, recycling boxes, and refuse bags from properties to the collection vehicle.
Operate hydraulic lifting equipment to empty bins safely.
Compact waste using vehicle equipment.
Inspect waste for contamination and report hazardous materials.
Guide the driver safely through narrow streets and assist with reversing manoeuvres.
Help unload waste and recycling at designated depots, recycling centres, or landfill sites.
Follow all health and safety procedures at all times.

Requirements

Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling throughout the day.
Ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Good attention to detail when identifying recyclable and contaminated materials.
Basic numeracy skills and the ability to follow instructions.
Reliable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
