Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK contractor within road marking and highway maintenance, seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead and grow their operations across Scotland.
This is a high-impact, senior-level role offering the opportunity to take ownership of an expanding regional division, combining operational leadership, commercial responsibility, and team development.
The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing all regional contracts across Central Scotland, managing project delivery, client relationships, and financial performance.
With an existing team already in place and secured workstreams, the role will focus on scaling operations, establishing a regional base, and building a high-performing team.
This is a key strategic hire with clear progression into a senior leadership or Regional Director role.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Contract Delivery
* Manage multiple contracts across road marking and specialist surface treatments
* Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
* Programme works to maximise productivity and resource utilisation
* Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders
* Monitor subcontractor performance where required
Commercial Management
* Take full ownership of regional P&L performance
* Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost control
* Approve variations and protect contract margins
* Review labour, plant, and material costs
* Support tender submissions with operational insight
Fleet & Workshop Oversight
* Oversee vehicle and plant maintenance operations
* Ensure full fleet compliance with regulatory and operator licence requirements
* Manage maintenance schedules and minimise downtime
* Coordinate workshop teams and external suppliers
* Control maintenance spend and improve efficiency
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Lead a strong safety-first culture across all operations
* Ensure compliance with ISO standards, NHSS schemes, and company procedures
* Conduct site audits and implement improvements
* Work alongside internal safety teams
Leadership & Growth
* Lead and develop operational and workshop teams
* Support recruitment and workforce planning as the region expands
* Play a key role in establishing a new regional depot
* Drive continuous improvement across performance and delivery
Requirements
Essential
* Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and margins
* Experience overseeing fleet, plant, or workshop operations
* Knowledge of HGV compliance and operator licence requirements
* Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
* Full UK Driving Licence Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
