Role description:


Lead development and implementation of the regional Local Government strategy on behalf of Places Business Line in the UK. 


Lead and manage allocated client account relationships, to establish Arcadis as a trusted partner and achieve revenue and margin growth in the region, in line with the strategy developed. 


A key objective of this role is to expand the breadth of our Local Government business in the region, both from existing clients, but to also identify and grow the client base further


Arcadis UK – Midlands 



  • Requirement to spend the majority of the working week present in the designated region, whether in AUK offices or with clients in local authorities. The requirement is for hybrid working, adopting a flexible approach around client needs.


Reporting Lines: 



  • Local Government Sector Leader 

  • May manage a small account team 

  • Work collaboratively with business leaders across the UK and the Midlands City Executive


Role accountabilities:



  • Growth and financial performance of the Local Government business in the region. 

  • Develop and implement account plans, for accounts in line with Arcadis UK business objectives to drive growth. 

  • Develop and grow target and existing accounts (revenue, bookings, and margin) to meet or exceed planned targets. 

  • Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of the client and the Sector to identify key trends and emerging opportunities, with existing and new clients and across the market. 

  • Develop and leverage a network of enduring relationships at the Director and Senior Officer level and with economic buyers in established and target clients. Leverage the network to understand client business needs, position Arcadis UK as a trusted partner, and contribute to the client relationship development. 

  • In collaboration with the relevant Business Lines / Units, ensure rigorous Go/No Go bid decisions, client account planning, and client pitches/presentations are undertaken. 

  • Lead pursuits, with support from relevant Business Lines / Units. 

  • Work collaboratively with the other Account Leaders to create and sustain a shared picture of the market trends and opportunities. 

  • Articulate and promote Arcadis-wide service offerings and propositions relevant to the Local Government market. 

  • Work collaboratively with Value Proposition Leaders to manage the targeting and tailoring of Arcadis value propositions into commercially viable propositions for the account, demonstrating value-creating outcomes for the client.

  • Capture client data on local accounts, including track record, case studies, sales collateral, relationship history, and delivery lessons learned, and make it available to support continuous improvement across accounts managed. 

  • Manage the local pipeline and feed opportunities into the business line pipeline to ensure optimal flow of pursuits to achieve targets.

  • Develop relationships throughout Arcadis UK to foster cooperation and to maximise opportunities to cross-sell and trade-up. 

  • Lead delivery of large multi-disciplinary projects and programmes.


Qualifications & Experience:



  • Understands and has a passion for the Regional and Local Government market.

  • Track record of leading successful pursuits for opportunities in excess of £500k fee. 

  • Has a track record of successfully developing and implementing a regional/sectoral / multi-account-based growth strategy. 

  • Demonstrates the ability to work across Business Lines and teams, to lead effective multi-disciplinary teams to respond to complex client requirements. 

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the key social and economic drivers and their influence on local government requirements in London and the South East. 

  • A good understanding of the housing and placemaking strategies across metropolitan authorities. · Track record of solution-based selling at senior levels.

  • A recognition of the Government’s agenda and its impact on the procurement of local government services in the region.
