Regional Officer - Shooting & Conservation

Regional Officer – Shooting & Conservation | Salary: £30k | Location: Home-based – ideally North-West England to cover the Northern region

The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) is seeking a Regional Officer to support the delivery of shooting, conservation, membership engagement and regional activities across the North.

Essential requirements: applicants must hold a full driving licence, firearms certificate and shotgun certificate. The successful applicant will also be required to undergo a DBS check.

The role involves the day-to-day management and delivery of projects and activities within the region, with a particular focus on membership engagement and recruitment, regional conservation objectives and the wider promotion of BASC, ensuring the association is represented to the highest standards.

Working with the Regional Director (North), you will build and maintain relationships with BASC-affiliated clubs, syndicates and trade members, as well as engaging with regional shoots, gamekeepers and shooting syndicates on key sector issues including conservation and sustainable shooting.

Key responsibilities will include:

Supporting membership recruitment and retention across the region.
Building and maintaining relationships with affiliated clubs, syndicates, trade members, shoots and gamekeepers.
Organising and delivering a programme of membership events.
Supporting BASC attendance at clay shoots, country shows, trade events and other regional activities.
Managing and developing a network of volunteers to support events and activities.
Supporting practical conservation projects and promoting associated conservation activities.
Working with BASC’s training and education team to support the delivery of training courses and outreach activity.
Developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders including police licensing and rural crime teams, Natural England, the Environment Agency and other key regional organisations.
Responding to enquiries and, where necessary, signposting members and the public to the appropriate BASC contact.
Promoting sustainable shooting, conservation and game as a healthy and sustainable food source through regional activities and events.
About you

You will need strong communication, customer service and organisational skills, together with the ability to plan and deliver projects, events and membership activities.
You should be confident building relationships with members, clubs, syndicates, gamekeepers, trade members and external stakeholders, and comfortable representing BASC across the region.
Good administrative and financial management skills are also required, along with working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Teams and Forms.
This is an agile, home-based role requiring travel throughout the region. BASC’s core hours are 8.30am–5.30pm Monday to Friday, although some weekend and out-of-hours working will be required to support membership engagement and events.
