Job title: Regional Underwriter

Salary: £45,000

Location: Chelmsford

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Lawes Consulting is proud to be partnering with a leading insurer to recruit a Regional Underwriter, based full-time out of their Chelmsford office. This is a high-impact position focused on underwriting cross class commercial products. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing broker relationships, underwriting risks, and contributing to the region's growth strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with a select panel of regional brokers
• Contribute to the delivery of financial targets and business objectives
• Take ownership of the underwriting and development of large, complex, and technical cases
• Establish yourself as a regional underwriting expert and technical point of reference
• Foster a strong culture of governance and risk awareness across the team
• Support and enhance relationships with strategic brokers and priority clients
• Assist in evaluating and strengthening the local broker distribution network
• Identify and convert new business opportunities within the broker panel

DAY-TO-DAY

• Technical underwriting
• Direct broker interaction
• Commercial and strategic planning
• Daily responsibilities include:
• Negotiating and trading with brokers using strong commercial acumen
• Collaborating closely with the Regional Development Manager

EXPERIENCE

• Strong understanding of the regional broker market
• Demonstrated success in underwriting complex commercial products
• Strong trading and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset

• Proactive and driven, with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation
