Working Pattern: Minimum 37.5 hours per week. Some travel, out of office hours & weekend work may be required

Location: Nationwide, with occasional travel to Manchester office

Reports to: Senior Delivery Manager - Officiating & Regions

PURPOSE

The post holder will work closely to support regions, leagues, associations, and areas as well as internal and external partners to co-ordinate the services and activities, to deliver the Basketball England strategy at a regional and local level.

As Regions, Associations & Leagues Development Officer you’ll be working closely with Regional Management Committees and will support their development ensuring strong governance, policies and support for various affiliated clubs and organisations across each region – with the overall outcome of increasing participation and growing the membership.

The successful applicant will have experience of working with local and partner organisations and supporting governance for local organisations and grassroots engagement.

We recognise that local infrastructure is crucial for the development of the sport and this role will be key in ensuring members’ voices are heard and fully supported in helping to engage more basketball participants.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Project Delivery: Working across departments to ensure strategy lands at a local level, alongside complimenting the needs of the game.

Governance: Support various affiliated bodies in terms of governance and relationship with Basketball England to strengthen the support for local basketball.

Project Management: Responsibilities relating to the identified projects at a local and regional level together with Basketball England Leads.

Monitor and evaluate projects: Identifying and mitigating issues that may impact project scope, quality, timeline, or budget.

Relationship Development: Support the various volunteers and staff within Regions, Areas, Associations and Leagues to develop basketball infrastructure at the grassroots level.

Resource Management: Support the delivery of the regional development grants and be able to support the finding of external funding, manage resources to support delivery at a local level.

Membership Growth: Support participation and workforce initiatives to grow membership across all regions.

OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Governance: To support the affiliation and governance of various basketball stakeholders at a local level to increase engagement

Communications: Delivery of key messages and ongoing communications with all internal and external stakeholders. Maintain information on the Basketball England website that relate to the regions, areas, associations and leagues.

Decision Making: Ability to make appropriate operational decisions to meet objectives together with your Line Manager and other teams across the business.

Service Delivery: To co-ordinate the operational delivery of required services ensuring they are effective and fit for purpose ensuring partners are involved throughout.

Governance, Risk & Compliance: Abide by all of Basketball England’s rules, regulations and policies (Including but not limited to, Equal Opportunities G Equity Policy; Safeguarding Policy; Code of Ethics G Conduct; Anti-Doping, Anti-Betting, Anti- Corruption and Confidentiality).

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

A degree in a relevant subject or compensating work experience in a relevant, related field.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years’ experience of working in a sports and community development environment with an outcomes-based approach to working.

Demonstrable experience of:

• Working with volunteers: Experience of working within a volunteer environment, ideally with associations and local bodies, and working effectively with partners.


• Relationship Management: Building trust and strong relationships internally and externally, ability to anticipate risks and manage stakeholder expectations.


• Governance: Experience in sports governance development.


• Monitoring and evaluation: Experience of tracking and evaluating targets in a sports environment.


• Customer Support: Ability to adapt and deliver support services to a growing volunteer network that is effective and efficient for the customer.


• Change Management: Successfully adapting to and working effectively within changing situations and demonstrating ability to work with a variety of different groups.

• Confident & Motivated: Confident with a high degree of self-motivation, self-awareness and initiative.


• Mental Agility & Initiative: Excellent mental agility with the ability to use own initiative to self-organise, plan and work effectively, taking account of changing and competing priorities.

Technical Skills

• Advanced ICT: Significant advanced expertise in the use of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other related ICT software.


• Numeracy & Literacy: Excellent numeracy, literacy, spelling and presentation in typewritten and other work.

• A genuine interest in basketball/sport.

• Job offers will be subject to completion of a satisfactory, current Basketball England DBS check and completed every three years.
