Job Description - Registered Children's Home Manager

Job Description

On behalf of my client we are recruiting for a Registered Childrens Home Manager for the Wigan area. You must have your Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services in the children and young people’s residential management pathway, equivalent (RMA etc.) or working towards. You must have considerable evidence of working with young people in a residential setting, and have worked for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role. You must also have good leadership and motivation skills.

As the manager you will ensure that the content and ethos of the Statement of Purpose is applied. To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the child. Act as the Designated Officer for safeguarding and child protection within the service. To coordinate and lead multi agencies working with individuals and balance sometimes conflicting agendas. To work closely and pro-actively with Therapists providing interventions to young people in the home. Liaise and coordinate with internal and external education providers. Manage a group of young people considered high risk of offending, working with partner organisations. Report immediately any unsafe practices and conditions. Promote and actively encourage the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment. Take the lead in ensuring an open culture is created, one in which children feel that they can complain and that they are listened to.

Develop and make known to staff a variety of intervention strategies regarding behaviour management and the promotion of pro-social behaviour. In order that children can develop coping mechanisms and changes in patterns negative of behaviour.

Starting salary would be £33k if not achieved Level 5 or £34k if completed Level 5 + an achievable bonus of up to £10,000. My client would also be looking at an increments of £1k for completion of Ofsted fit person. There may be an opportunity for the candidate to undertake an FDA in therapeutic childcare at Glyndwr University.

The Annual Leave entitlement will be 33 days per annum inclusive of all public holidays. The Company’s holiday year currently runs from 1st January to the 31st December. Christmas: Due to the nature of our work you will not normally be permitted to take holidays during the period of 17th December to 10thJanuary.
