Kick On Recruitment is seeking an
experienced Registered
Veterinary Nurse with strong equine experience for a unique
opportunity within a high-security equestrian environment.

This role offers the opportunity
to combine professional veterinary nursing expertise with hands-on equine care,
exercise and training.

Working closely with veterinary
and equestrian professionals, you will play an important role in maintaining
the health, welfare and fitness of a varied population of horses.

The role will involve working
with a varied population of high-quality horses, including:

• Irish
  Draughts and Sport Horses from 16.3hh and above.
  
• Larger
  traditional breeds including Shires and Clydesdales.
  
• Young and
  developing horses.
  
• Horses
  requiring rehabilitation, veterinary support and bespoke training.
  
  

The
Role

Key Responsibilities

• Ride,
  exercise, school and lunge horses when required.
  
• Help coordinate and maintain records of horse
  riding and exercise availability
  
• Work closely
  with veterinary professionals to ensure treatments are administered correctly.
  
• Identify
  injuries, illness and abnormalities and ensure these are appropriately managed
  and recorded.
  
• Triage
  injuries and illness.
  
• Oversee
  routine daily treatments and medication.
  
• Assist
  equine dentists where required.
  
• Assist with
  sedation for procedures such as shoeing and clipping.
  
• Undertake
  faecal worm egg counts during the relevant season.
  
• Support
  physiotherapy exercises, including carrot stretches and use of back massagers.
  
• Assist with
  and deliver basic veterinary education where appropriate.
  
• Assist with
  stable management and report areas of concern.
  
• Oversee feed
  preparation and correct stock management of feeds and supplements.
  
• Support
  horses requiring bespoke training alongside veterinary and equestrian staff.
  
• Assist with
  documentation for horse movements between locations.
  
• Provide
  travelling groom and driver support where appropriate.
  
• Apply
  appropriate rugs and bandages.
  
• Liaise and
  coordinate with veterinary and equestrian personnel.
  
• Provide
  additional support during periods of staff absence and increased activity.
  
• Work
  essential overtime where requested and formally approved.
  
  

Working
Environment

This role is based within a high-security site and successful candidates will be required to comply with all relevant security
procedures, site rules and operational protocols.

A background check will be
required as part of the recruitment process.

Core working hours are 07:00–16:00, Monday to
Friday.

Additional hours/weekends may be
required depending on operational requirements.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be
a Registered
Veterinary Nurse with strong equine experience.

You will ideally have:

• Current RVN
  registration.
  
• Strong
  equine veterinary nursing experience.
  
• Excellent
  horse handling skills.
  
• Experience
  administering veterinary treatments and medication.
  
• Experience
  recognising and triaging injury and illness.
  
• A thorough
  understanding of equine welfare.
  
• Strong
  record-keeping and attention to detail.
  
• The ability
  to work closely with veterinary and equestrian professionals.
  
• Excellent
  communication skills.
  
• A calm,
  organised and professional approach.
  
• Flexibility
  to support wider equine requirements.
  

Benefits

• Salary: £39,222.46
  
• Annual Leave: 25 days’ annual leave per annum, with additional time off provided where bank holiday duties are worked, in line with the rota and operational requirements.
