Join East Sussex County Council’s Communities, Economy and Transport Directorate as a Registrar, delivering vital front-line services to residents and visitors across the county.

You’ll provide a professional and efficient service while registering births and deaths, conducting ceremonies, and producing accurate legal records. This is a varied, customer-focused role requiring strong communication skills, sound judgement, attention to detail, and good ICT skills in a fast-paced, community-facing environment.

Three positions are available: full-time (37 hours). 

• One full-time based in Lewes
• One full-time based in Crowborough
• One full-time based in Eastbourne

As part of a countywide service, you may be required to work at any of our other locations across East Sussex.

This is a customer-facing role. It is not suitable for home working. 

As a Registrar, you will play a key role in delivering statutory services to the public, ensuring legal processes are carried out accurately and professionally. You’ll conduct face-to-face interviews, deliver ceremonies, and take ownership of producing and maintaining precise legal records, while providing a high standard of customer service.

Working within a busy and collaborative team, you’ll liaise with a range of partners and stakeholders, managing competing priorities using strong organisational skills and attention to detail. This is a responsible and varied role offering the opportunity to develop expertise while contributing to an essential public service.
