Air Safety Support International Ltd (ASSI) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the UK Civil Aviation Authority. Established in 2003, ASSI supports the development of civil aviation safety regulation in the UK Overseas Territories (OTs). Its mission is “To ensure, in an inclusive and sustainable manner, that the UK meets its international obligations in respect of aviation safety regulation within the UK Overseas Territories".
The Role
Accountable for leading the technical specialists team to ensure that safety and security regulatory oversight is carried out efficiently and effectively in line with the principles of Performance Based Oversight (PBO) in those Overseas Territories where ASSI has been designated as aviation safety and/or security regulator by the Governor; and to provide assurance to the DfT that the Overseas Aviation Authorities (OTAAs) meet ICAO’s eight critical elements of a safety oversight system.
The role requires the leadership and line management of the technical team and the prioritisation and allocation of tasks to meet regulatory oversight needs to ensure risk is managed and that ASSI’s objectives are met. Key to succeeding in this role, is the maintenance of a competent workforce and this role plays a vital part in ensuring optimum use of the training budget. The Regulatory Compliance Manager will maintain direct contact with industry management on significant safety or policy matters, as well as key contacts in the OTAAs, and will monitor the progress of audit findings to secure timely and proper closure. The role also requires supporting all other areas of ASSI as part of the small team.

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
SC - To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.
