Help Vulnerable Young People Reconnect with Education

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist alternative provision seeking passionate and resilient Reintegration Workers to support secondary-aged pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, emotional-based school avoidance (EBSA), or medical needs.

This is a highly rewarding outreach role where you will work directly with young people across a variety of settings, including schools, family homes, community venues and specialist provisions, helping them overcome barriers to attendance and successfully re-engage with education.

If you have experience in youth work, family support, attendance, social care, SEND, alternative provision, pastoral support, mental health services or community outreach, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Reintegration Worker, you will become a trusted adult and advocate for a caseload of vulnerable young people, supporting them through personalised reintegration plans and transition pathways.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering face-to-face mentoring and emotional support.
Supporting pupils to successfully return to education and improve attendance.
Building positive relationships with pupils, families and schools.
Acting as the key point of contact for parents and carers.
Delivering trauma-informed and restorative interventions.
Supporting young people with SEMH, anxiety and medical needs.
Leading and contributing to multi-agency meetings and reviews.
Developing and implementing bespoke reintegration and support plans.
Creating Harm Reduction Plans and Therapeutic Thinking Risk Assessments where required.
Maintaining accurate records using school management and safeguarding systems.
Working proactively to identify risks and prevent further disengagement.

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Essential

Experience working with children or young people in education, social care, youth work, family support or similar environments.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
Knowledge of SEMH needs, trauma-informed practice and barriers to school attendance.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to remain calm and effective when managing challenging situations.
Experience working with parents, carers and external agencies.
Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.

Desirable

Experience within alternative provision, SEND or specialist education settings.
Experience leading multi-agency meetings such as TAF, CIN or Child Protection reviews.
Knowledge of attendance legislation and strategies to reduce persistent absence.
Experience using systems such as Arbor, MyConcern or similar MIS platforms.
Relevant Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Youth Work, Social Care, Counselling or a related field.
Therapeutic Thinking, TPP or trauma-informed practice training.

What's on Offer?

Permanent role within a growing specialist provision.
Extensive professional development and specialist SEND/SEMH training.
Supportive and collaborative leadership team.
Opportunity to help shape innovative reintegration pathways.
Meaningful work that transforms the lives of vulnerable young people.
A values-led culture where staff wellbeing and development are prioritised.

Important Information

This role involves regular travel between schools, homes and community venues. A valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle with appropriate business insurance are essential.

Safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance, satisfactory references, right to work checks and all other relevant pre-employment screening checks.
