Job Description - Account Director, Healthcare Practice



In our dedicated Healthcare Practice, we help our healthcare clients bring products, services, and propositions to life, turning complex concepts into simple and compelling messages.

The Role


Over the past three years, Madano’s Healthcare Practice has grown significantly to become one of the UK’s largest focused healthcare communications offerings. To support our continued growth, we’re looking for an Account Director to join our team.


Account Directors are integral to leading teams to deliver exceptional work for our clients, across a variety of therapy areas and projects. We are looking for an engaging and inspiring Account Director with expertise in all things healthcare communications – media, medical, content development/creation, digital and strong project management – as well as someone invested in team development and business growth.


Communications expertise



  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to simplify complex science into compelling and creative communications programmes

  • Effective management of teams to deliver comprehensive communications strategies, including (but not limited to) content creation, event management, social media activation and media engagement

  • Experience working with specialists to develop strategic communications campaigns that deliver on client objectives

  • Ability to review campaign metrics to determine success and key learnings

  • Comprehensive knowledge of social media channels and how to optimise digital campaigns

  • Understanding of local and international regulations relating to the healthcare industry to ensure projects are compliant

  • An in-depth understanding of the healthcare communications landscape and an interest in the latest news/events


Client service



  • Day-to-day account lead for multiple clients, demonstrating an innate knowledge of clients’ businesses

  • Ability to provide ongoing strategic counsel, build trust and develop enduring relationships with key client contacts

  • Ensure that high quality work is consistently delivered across accounts, that is not only polished, but also meets each clients’ objectives and is strategically sound

  • Ability to discuss and refine project briefs with the client, and coordinate briefs across relevant internal and external stakeholders


Business development



  • Provide support with the execution of the Healthcare Business Plan, and Client Growth Plans (where appropriate)

  • Proactive identification of opportunities for organic growth within each client’s portfolio, and development of proposals

  • Coordination of the development of pitch documents, including bringing in cross-functional expertise where needed

  • Attendance of networking events on a regular basis

  • Good understanding of Madano’s financial objectives, and ability to develop, manage, adhere to and reconcile budgets to ensure profitability

  • Demonstrate an understanding of financial forecasting and capacity planning needs for each client and account team


People skills 



  • Ability to manage team workloads and contribute to the development of team members through ongoing mentoring and knowledge sharing

  • Direct line management, including conducting performance reviews, professional development and promotion processes within the practice

  • Supports with recruitment efforts, including marketing activities and conducting candidate interviews

  • An engaging presenter to internal and external audiences, with excellent meeting facilitation skills

Location


Our team meets regularly at our Central London office, so the ideal candidate would be open to joining us in person at least 3 days a week. Madano offers flexible start/end times around core working hours and working from home is certainly an option.
