The Artwork Manager is responsible for the daily operational delivery of artwork and labelling advisory services across all food category areas for one of our retail clients. The role ensures the team is supported so that all artwork assets and pack information meet regulatory, legal, and brand compliance requirements. It ensures work is completed on time, to the required quality standards, and in line with client expectations.
As the primary point of contact for client escalations, regulatory queries, and artwork‑related risk assessments, the Artwork Manager plays a vital role in maintaining smooth operations and building strong, professional client relationships.
This role provides line management for artwork specialists and advisors, including performance monitoring, coaching, identifying training needs, and maintaining consistent ways of working. A deep understanding of labelling regulations, artwork lifecycle management, and compliance frameworks is essential, along with the ability to apply these rigorously across products, categories, and processes.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Effective performance management of a group of artwork advisors and category experts
Completion of all artwork and compliance checks within agreed schedules
Accuracy of regulatory advice and reduction in artwork‑related NCRs
On‑time delivery of artwork components of projects
Positive feedback from internal teams and clients
Compliance with regulatory, retailer, and brand standards
Contribution to process improvements and efficiency gains that enhance service quality and support overall account profitability
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Management
Responsible for team performance, morale, and engagement
Provide coaching, mentoring, and identify training needs
Maintain consistent ways of working across the team
Regulatory & Compliance Leadership
Promote a strong compliance and quality culture across artwork processes
Review complex regulatory documentation (e.g., labelling legislation, claims rules, mandatory information) and apply risk‑based decision‑making aligned to client policies
Maintain and develop strong expertise in artwork regulations, packaging compliance, and governance frameworks
Demonstrate excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
Operational Delivery & Resource Management
Ensure artwork tasks are completed on time and to required quality standards
Conduct timely investigation of artwork or compliance issues and escalate appropriately
Oversee artwork workflow, version control, and approval processes
Client Relationship Management
Act as primary contact for client escalations and key regulatory or artwork queries
Build strong relationships with key technical, regulatory, and marketing stakeholders
Education and Experience
Strong background and expertise in artwork management, labelling regulations, product information compliance, and packaging governance
