Buyer Cumbria Salary: Negotiable (DOE) Hours: 4 day working week
An established UK-based manufacturer at the forefront of high-performance electronic and electro-optic systems is seeking a Buyer / Scheduler to join their dynamic procurement team. Operating in the advanced engineering sector, the company delivers innovative solutions to clients in aerospace, defence, and other mission-critical industries.
About the Role:
This is a key role within the procurement function, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement. You'll be responsible for MRP scheduling and purchasing of a range of components, ensuring consistent supply to meet operational needs. Your focus will be on securing optimal pricing, lead times, and quality, while fostering strong supplier relationships and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day management of purchase orders and scheduling to meet MRP demand
Proactively communicate supply issues that may impact production
Collaborate with operations and project teams on new part introductions
Maintain forward project costings to protect project margins
Support the generation of supplier performance metrics (KPIs)
Participate in procurement improvement projects and cross-functional teamwork
Maintain professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Conduct supplier and component sourcing research
Resolve supply chain issues related to pricing, quality, or delivery
About You:
HND or equivalent experience in purchasing or supply chain
ERP/MRP systems experience preferred
Comfortable working with electronic components is an advantage
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Self-starter with excellent organisational and communication skills
Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required
