Deputy TV & Movies Editor (UK Hours)

Dexerto is looking for a Deputy TV & Movies Editor to help lead our coverage of the biggest shows and films.
 

This is a senior editorial role for someone with strong experience writing and editing digital content. You’ll support the TV and Movies Editor in managing day-to-day output, ensuring high standards across the section, and stepping up to run things in their absence.

You’ll be expected to lead by example, with a keen eye for breaking stories, standout headlines, and search-friendly content. You’ll also need to be confident posting content on Facebook and X (Twitter), helping drive traffic and engagement from our social platforms.

A key part of the role involves using your industry contacts to gain early access to shows and movies, attending junkets and screenings, and producing original content such as interviews, reviews, and exclusives.
 

The right candidate will be comfortable covering a broad range of genres, including superheroes, fantasy, horror, action, anime, and true crime, with a clear understanding of what resonates with digital audiences.
 

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Writing and editing breaking news, reviews, features, and evergreen content
• Assigning stories and supporting writers with ideas and feedback
• Subbing and improving copy, maintaining quality and consistency
• Running the section when the Editor is away
• Attending junkets, press events, and screenings in London when needed
• Posting and scheduling stories on social media platforms, especially Facebook and X
• Monitoring trends and analytics to help shape daily coverage

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong editorial experience at a digital publication
• Excellent writing skills across news, features, and reviews
• Experience managing or mentoring writers
• Confident editing copy to a high standard
• SEO knowledge and experience using analytics
• Interviewing experience and industry contacts 
• Comfortable and confident posting content on social media
• Familiarity with a wide range of genres and pop culture trends
