Job Description - Freelance Assessor - Information Communications Technician (ICT) for Assessment
We’re looking for Independent Assessors to join us in assessing the Level 3 Information Communications Technician (ICT) Apprenticeship Standard.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need solid experience in the sector at occupational level 3 or above within the last three years, or substantial, proven expertise that shows you really know your craft.
Assessments are carried out primarily remotely, via video calling. It can be done from anywhere in the UK as long as you have a computer, webcam and strong internet connection. The assessments include a project with questioning and a professional discussion based on a portfolio of evidence.

Your responsibilities will cover…
Marking submitted evidence using a defined assessment plan and grading criteria.
Awarding marks using a defined assessment plan and marking criteria.
Making sound judgements about the standard of the apprentice’s knowledge and competence.
Providing robust feedback to the apprentice and determining an overall grade.
Working collaboratively as part of the 1st For Awarding assessment team.
Maintaining your own professional development,including recording a minimum of 30 hours of CPD each year.
Upholding 1st For Awarding's organisational values, Code of Conduct and the Ofqual principle of'do no harm'in all aspects of your work.
Complying with safeguarding policies and procedures, remaining vigilant to safeguarding concerns, and promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for apprentices, colleagues and all those you engage with.
Completing mandatory Preventing Radicalisation and Safeguarding training during onboarding and all required refresher training as part of your continued professional development.
We’re looking for people who have…
Essential:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in sector
Highly organised
Reliable and trustworthy
Able to plan your own schedule and commit to agreed times/bookings
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to attend two standardisation activities per year
Desirable:
Experience working as an End Point Assessor, Independent Assessor, coach or tutor
Grading experience
A good understanding of apprenticeship standards and EPA
Assessor qualifications (e.g. CAVA, TAQA, Award in Undertaking EPA, A1)
