Internal Sales Engineer – Electrical EngineeringLeicesterH2O Recruitment are working with an established UK engineering manufacturer to recruit an Internal Sales Engineer for its Leicester operation.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in electrical, electronic or control engineering who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with customer interaction.You'll join an experienced technical sales team and become a key point of contact for customers, helping them understand and specify engineering solutions for a range of demanding industrial applications.This isn't simply an order-processing or traditional internal sales position. You'll need to understand customers' technical requirements, interpret specifications and data, develop appropriate solutions and produce accurate quotations and tenders.The RoleWorking within the company you'll manage customer enquiries from initial contact through to quotation, order and ongoing customer support.Your responsibilities will include:Handling technical customer enquiries by telephone, email and face-to-faceUnderstanding and interpreting customers' technical and commercial requirementsDeveloping preliminary technical solutions that can be accurately costed and quotedPreparing detailed quotations and tendersFollowing up quotations and helping convert opportunities into profitable ordersProviding pre-sales technical advice and product informationBuilding strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective customersIdentifying and pursuing new business opportunitiesEnsuring orders and technical information are passed efficiently to Engineering, Contracts and ProductionKeeping customers informed throughout the order process and resolving queries quicklyMaintaining accurate records of enquiries, quotations, orders and customer activityDeveloping strong knowledge of the company's products and their applicationsSupporting colleagues across Engineering, Contracts and ProductionAttending occasional customer and site visits within the UK and internationallyWhat We're Looking ForYou'll ideally already have experience in a technical sales, sales engineering, applications, estimating, proposals or customer-facing engineering environment.You'll need:A good understanding of electrical engineeringIdeally an HNC in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering, or an equivalent apprenticeship/qualificationPrevious experience in a technical customer-facing positionThe ability to read, understand and interpret technical informationA practical, solutions-focused approach to customer requirementsStrong communication skills and the confidence to deal with customers at different levelsGood commercial awareness and an interest in converting enquiries into ordersStrong organisational skills and attention to detailConfidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and ExcelA self-motivated and proactive approachA degree in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering would be advantageous but isn't essential.Experience dealing with large OEMs, engineering contractors or international customers would also be beneficial.Why Consider This Opportunity?You'll be joining an established engineering manufacturer whose products are used across many sectors.The position offers an interesting combination of engineering, technical sales, customer relationships and commercial problem-solving, with exposure to both UK and international customers.You'll predominantly be based at the Leicester site, with occasional national and international customer visits.Interested?If you're an electrically minded engineer who enjoys working with customers – or you're already working in technical/internal sales and would like a role where you can use more of your engineering knowledge – we'd be very interested in hearing from you.
