Home based Field Service Engineer - CNC Machine Tools Location: Field-based, covering projects across the UK and internationally Basic up to £55,000 per annum + benefits Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our client, a leading provider of specialist technical solutions for CNC machine tool users, is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join their expert team. With strong industry ties and a reputation for precision, they support a diverse range of customers, including aerospace manufacturers, Formula 1 racing teams, and general engineering firms.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality service support, including diagnostics, repairs, refurbishments, and calibrations across a range of CNC machines. Operating within a data-driven environment, this role is ideal for an engineer with a passion for accuracy and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out diagnostics, repairs, and system optimizations on CNC machines.

  • Perform control system and PLC projects (electrical).

  • Conduct machine geometry alignments (mechanical).

  • Provide preventative maintenance and servicing at customer sites.

  • Prepare detailed technical assessments and service reports.

  • Offer technical support to internal teams and assist with parts identification.

  • Attend customer breakdowns, including occasional after-hours and weekend support.

  • Travel nationally and internationally for major projects, with overnight stays as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics.

  • Experience in servicing, assembling, or refurbishing CNC machine tools.

Salary & Benefits

  • Standby allowances (£175/day, £350 on bank holidays, and £350/day from September-December).

  • Company-provided vehicle with fuel card and covered accommodation expenses.

Working Pattern

  • Monday to Friday (8 AM - 5 PM).

  • Regular travel required; hotel stays covered when necessary.

  • Engineers based within an hour’s travel distance may return home daily; otherwise, accommodation is provided.
